Earthquakes as divination

Last night, as I was posting my "I'm scared" post, I mean literally as I was hitting "publish post", an earthquake struck. I'm far enough away from the epicenter that wasn't even big enough to make a noise, but I felt it.

Now, using earthquakes as a divination tool would tell me that I need to shake up my way of looking at this problem and even though it sounds scary, it won't be painful.

And today, I do feel much better about how to handle my problem with this story. Thanks to everyone for their advice and support.

  1. Eeeeee I hate earthquakes - NZ is just waiting for the big one to hit...

  2. We're waiting for the big one in California, too. (It's evidently 150 years overdue, which is nothing in geological time, but means it could happen any day.)

Does NZ have an "earthquake awareness" month, where they remind everyone to fasten everything down, and have a week's worth of water, food and medication in your car and home?

  3. I just wanted to let you know I found the stuff we talked about on editing and I sent you an email to find it. Hope it helps.

And I don't like earthquakes, more than I don't like tornados.

It makes sense. After all you get tornado warnings so you can get out of the way. (No earthquake warnings.) And tornados are in spots, earthquakes cover a huge area.

But...I kind of like earthquakes (or will, until my house gets smashed in the Big One). I would hate tornados. I imagine. Having never lived in tornado country. (But I saw "The Wizard of Oz" several times, does that count?)

Thank you for posting a comment! I know that sounds a little needy, and maybe it is. I mean, I don't need comment validation to know that I exist, right? But I like to know that someone else (maybe you?) has read what I wrote and felt moved enough to reply. So, thank you.
