"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." Plato

I've always loved this quote. I try to live by it, though I'm not always successful.

I just read Bill Zeller's suicide letter. I never knew him. I wonder if the people that knew him saw him in the same light in which he saw himself. I understand his wish that he could have ended his pain in another way. Some way that wouldn't hurt the people around him so much. I wish he could have gotten help.

In the meantime, I will do my best to "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."

  1. Always nice to remember. Not always easy but you're right. Never know what peoples lives are like.

  2. Hi Colene,

At the very worst, it can't hurt, right?

  3. How true... I agree with you... it's not always easy, but at least we try.

  4. If I absolutely can't do it (because there are some people that I can't find compassion for), I try to at least acknowledge that they have a tough fight.

(It'd be easier for me to feel compassion if I'd just seen most of "Born In A Brothel" tonight. Heartbreaking stuff.)

  5. Sigh, that should be "if I hadn't just seen..."

Thank you for posting a comment! I know that sounds a little needy, and maybe it is. I mean, I don't need comment validation to know that I exist, right? But I like to know that someone else (maybe you?) has read what I wrote and felt moved enough to reply. So, thank you.
